RENEE RATCLIFFE lived and died for the mas.

The well-known designer and bandleader was in the thick of things with the Jump Promotions Happy Go Lucky band yesterday when she collapsed and later passed away.

News of her sudden passing sent shockwaves across all the sections of the band and wider Barbados, and was most devastating to her parents Peter and Neilsa Sheppard, who was with their only child in her trials and triumphs.

Her dad Peter spoke to the DAILY NATION about their “unbearable and most unbelievable loss”.

“To see her performing, going across the stage and then being interviewed, and then five minutes later, literally, I get a call that she’s collapsed and she’s taken down to the QEH emergency. I couldn’t believe it, and then I got there within 15 to 20 minutes and she never recovered any heartbeat or any breathing. (YB)
