DEAR CHRISTINE: Friend acting ungrateful

DEAR CHRISTINE, I HAD A WOMAN I once called my friend, but she has turned out to be very ungrateful. When she was pregnant with her last child I was the only one she could turn to.

Not even the man with whom she had other children wanted her to live at him. This was because she was not expecting for him, and was trying to abort the child. I encouraged her not to do that. That child has turned out to be a very nice son.

Up to this year, I went and cleaned her place and tried to help that ungrateful woman generally. Now that all of that has been done, she is walking about telling people she does not speak to me because I am dangerous.

Christine, do you think after all the things I’ve done for her she has any right saying bad things about me? I have always heard you should never bite the hand that feeds you. Christine, I leave her in the hands of the good Lord.

Someone else will find her out because when she does not have anything she will talk to you, but when she can help herself she does not even speak to those who helped her out during the hard times.

Christine, someone told me what she is saying and I want to go and ask her: “What have I done to you or said to you that you are walking about telling people I am dangerous?”

H.L

Dear H.L,

Those who bring the news to you are the ones you should also be careful of.  I wonder how much strife is being spread by others. Those who bring the news may also be taking news to her. It is sad but true, that there are people who thrive on strife.

I think your idea of talking to her is good.  Do it quietly. Ask to see her and don’t accuse. Let her know what you have been told. Chances are she’ll tell you of things that have been said to her also.

I hope you two can get to the truth and so respect and appreciate each other, even if you never get back together again. Don’t rely altogether on what has been told to you. Go and talk to her for yourself.

– CHRISTINE
