Medal ‘within reach’

KEEP HOPE ALIVE. An Olympic medal is on the cards for Barbados in Rio.

So says Minister of Sports, Stephen Lashley, who left yesterday for the 31st Olympiad in Brazil, oozing with confidence that Barbados could grab a medal in track & field.

“I am very hopeful, I believe that we have a very talented team in Rio. I think the country needs to be very supportive of our athletes and I think that certainly at the Government level that there is a presence there to show our support, and that is the reason I am going to Rio.

“It is important for the country to support its athletes and once that happens, anything is possible. I was in London (2012) and I went to the athletes village and it was a phenomenal experience.”
