IN A RARE CASE, a female prison officer who married a former prisoner seven years ago was yesterday criminally charged with breaching the prison rules by having such a relationship.

Shanelle Wendy Antonio Ellis-Vaughan, 38, of St Andrew, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Douglas Frederick in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court accused of knowingly associating with former inmate Adrian Vaughan without the permission of Superintendent of Dodds Prison, Lieutenant Colonel John Nurse.

Ellis-Vaughan, who pleaded not guilty, is alleged to have committed the offence sometime between November 13, 2009 and February 28, 2012.

The matter has been adjourned until November 1 and the prison officer has been granted $2 500 bail with a surety. (TS/GBM)
