More sixth form schools

COME NEXT YEAR, Barbadians may add Coleridge and Parry and Deighton Griffith secondary schools to the list of sixth form institutions.

And if Minister of Education Ronald Jones has his way, a few private sixth form schools may also be in the mix.

While speaking at the opening of St Luke’s Academy in Whitehall, St Peter, yesterday, Jones told the DAILY NATION that, resources permitting, the ministry would be possibly adding three new sixth form schools next year.

“There is some pressure in what I call the post-16 arena. I had recognised that earlier when I came into office. That is why you saw the establishment of the Foundation School, St Michael, Springer, Alexandra and St Leonard’s,” the minister said. (AD)
