BARBADOS’ bodybuilding won’t have a bell ringing at this year’s Central American and Caribbean Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship in Santo Domingo.
Three-time Mr Barbados Stevenson Belle won’t be flexing his muscles at the September 29 to October 2 championships.
According to manager of the 21-member team, Dr Andrew Forde, who is also president of the Barbados Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, Stevenson is among five competitors unavailable for “various personal reasons”.
Belle’s absence will be a severe blow as the Surfside Wellness Centre heavyweight muscleman has been unbeaten in four contests this year.
The promising 20-year-old Shaquille Lavine, fresh from capturing the Junior Barbados title at last month’s All Max Nationals, is another major absentee as well as Laron Gibson, Lana Richards and Andre Bascombe, who has ACCA examinations. (EZS)
