TEARS MIGHT be the only kind of water flowing in some northern districts.
That’s because frustrated residents continue to battle with chronic water outages and in some cases, very high bills for a non-existent service from the Barbados Water Authority (BWA).
Unlike Horse Hill, St Joseph residents, who plan to picket BWA’s headquarters on Wednesday, several long-suffering St Peter residents said they have not reached a boiling point.
A desalination plant was recently commissioned in Hope, St Lucy to help alleviate the water woes in the north according to officials. That plant, along with a second temporary system expected to be launched in November, will reportedly provide another 700 000 to 800 000 gallons in the distribution system and upgrade the systems at Warleigh and Boscobel in St Peter, Half Acre and Lamberts in St Lucy, and Rock Hall, St Thomas.
