‘Don’t seek popularity’

A PRIMARY SCHOOL teacher is advising Christian students not to fall into the trap of trying to be popular and losing themselves.

The advice of senior teacher Carol Mascoll formed part of the tips, advice and scholarships of the Emmanuel Baptist Church back-to-school service yesterday. Secondary and tertiary students at the President Kennedy Drive, St Michael church received financial contributions towards their education during the church’s 25th annual scholarship service entitled Who Am I.

“You are not like the others. You are not to see yourselves as superior but you are a child of God. Don’t become somebody else just to be popular . . . . You must remember you are a light, you are to draw others,” Mascoll said. (AC)
