Dismiss after 90 days, argues Pilgrim

AN ATTORNEY AT LAW is suggesting that magistrates dismiss cases after three months if there is no prosecution file.

Andrew Pilgrim QC made a “persuasive” application on behalf of his client who he said was “sitting in prison for two years plus without an iota of evidence being brought forward”.  

Jamel Omar Ashby, 25, of Rogers Road, Ivy, St Michael, had seven matters dated between May and June 2014 before the court. They included firearm, serious bodily harm and wounding charges.

The Queen’s Counsel spoke after the prosecutor indicated that he had received no instruction regarding a file. (TKS)
