Barbados name 12 surfers for World Juniors

BARBADOS will be represented by a 12-member junior team comprising eight boys and four girls at the VISSLA ISA World Junior Surfing Championship (WJSC) starting next week in Portugal.

The championship, which showcases the best young surfers from around the world, will be held in São Miguel, Azores Islands, September 17 to 25.

Apart from the overall team champion, the surfers will be competing for medals in Under-16 and Under-18 age groups for boys and girls.

The Under-18 boys are Kia Bourne, Andrew Rose, Andrew Gill and Axe Garrett, while Zander Venezia and Jacob Burke will headline the Under-16 Boys’ division which also includes Yuri Scutt and Celeb Rapson. (EZS)
