JUST LIKE for most of his international playing career, Philip Simmons played a short coaching innings for the West Indies before he was clean bowled.

The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) yesterday confirmed the Trinidadian’s immediate sacking following the quarterly meeting of the board of directors last Saturday in Dominica, where the decision was taken.

“In recent times, based on the public pronouncements of the coach and the approach internally, we have identified differences in culture and strategic approach,” the WICB said in a brief statement.

The WICB also announced that Barbadians Henderson Springer and Roddy Estwick will be the coaches for the West Indies senior team during the upcoming assignments against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates. Manager Joel Garner will head the touring party. (EZS)
