MISS UNIVERSE BARBADOS Shannon Harris wants Barbadians to accept that she is 100 per cent Barbadian.
Harris told the WEEKEND NATION: “I am a Bajan; I have lived here all my life and I am happy to be Bajan . . . I am happy to bring home the crown in January and that’s all I am focusing on.”
The Miss Universe contest will be held in the Philippines in January.
The 21-year old beauty was crowned at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre last Weekend, after beating out 13 other delegates for the coveted Miss Universe Barbados title – a judges’ decision that saw almost immediate objection by several people on social media because she is light-skinned.
The five-foot, nine-inch beauty has been gracious in response to the criticism. (GC/TSG)
