Empire beat Police to take Elite lead

ICBL EMPIRE predictably completed a ten-wicket victory over Police yesterday to take over the lead in the Barbados Cricket Association’s Elite Division after pre-series leaders CounterPoint Wanderers had to settle for a draw against Massy Stores Spartan due to a wet pitch at Queen’s Park.

While Empire were romping to victory at the neighbouring Weymouth ground to move to 71 points, a stone’s throw away, the Wanderers’ players were kept indoors because of seepage under the leaky covers.

There was also no play on the first day because of a similar problem. Wanderers got a solitary point from the game and are now second on 69 while Spartan are third on 64. (EZS)
