TORONTO – Barbados jockeys Juan Crawford and brothers, Patrick and Simon Husbands each posted a victory on Sunday’s ten-race card at the Woodbine race track in Canada.

Crawford took race one over a mile and eighth with 13-1 bet Royal Intrigue, while Patrick Husbands won in race two with favourite World In Silence. Older brother Simon Husbands captured race seven over six furlongs with 10-1 choice Kaili’s Big Boy

Meanwhile, Jamaican Jermaine Bridgmohan produced a late charge aboard 5-1 chance Sweather Weather to win the CAN$125 000 Classy ‘n Smart Stakes and log a rare added-money triumph.

Going a mile and sixteenth in race six, the pair trailed for most of the encounter and came off the final turn dead last before storming down the middle of the lane to clip the three-year-old and upward fillies and mares.

Twelve-to-one chance Generous Touch laid down the fractions, hammering out 25.13 seconds for the quarter-mile and 50.99 for the half, as Sparkles’ Girl chased from second and Galina Point, with multiple-time former champion, Patrick Husbands aboard, tracking from third.

Bridgmohan and the five-year-old bay mare were unhurried along the backstretch but made a bid coming off the final turn and steadily hauled in the leaders, to be clearly the best at the wire.

Favourite Hot Kiss closed well to be second while Generous Touch ended third. (EZS/CMC)
