THERE HAS BEEN a dramatic change in weather conditions across Barbados.

As people continue to check in from different communities, there are reports of high winds and heavy rain.

In St Philip, conditions are said to have taken a turn for the worse around 11:30 a.m. where it went from “grey and serene to wind and rain”. The wind is still strengthening and is being propelled by gusts.

The wind and rain have also picked up in Foul Bay. It was fairly clear outside for most of the morning, and some people were outside tending their gardens, but then there was a swift change in conditions about 11:45.

Similar conditions have been reported at the Villages in Coverley, Christ Church, at Salters, St George, parts of St Peter and Warrens, St Michael.

The tropic disturbance has now been upgraded to Tropical Storm Matthew and officials say it could become a hurricane by the end of the week. (Barbados Nation)
