THE CARIBBEAN DEVELOPMENT CHAMPIONSHIPS are a good start. But regional boxing needs even more tournaments.

Barbados Boxing Association vice president Richard Atwell has pinned the Caribbean’s struggles at the international level on a lack of competition and the inability to field enough bouts in every weight category.

Atwell expressed the sentiment in defending the need for the Caribbean Development Boxing Championships slated for Barbados in December.
