Body found at Bakers identified

THE BODY FOUND AT BAKERS, St Peter has been identified as that of missing man Christopher Hawkesworth.

His wife Kim Hawkesworth, son Christopher and several other family members gathered at the scene from just before 9 p.m., hours after it was announced the body of a man was discovered in an off-road and wooded area by a police patrol unit at about 5 p.m. today. 

christopher-hawkesworthThe body was positively identified by his wife and son at about 10:50 p.m. They left the scene immediately afterward.

According to reliable sources, the 54-year-old St Michael man is believed to have died from a single gunshot to the back of the head.

Kim had earlier spoken to The NATION and she and other family members said they were hoping for the best.

The vehicle in which the body was found was later removed by a wrecker.

Meanwhile, Police are appealing to the public for assistance.
