SPORT SCIENCE is a growing field in Barbados, and to drive that point home, the University of the West Indies Academy of Sport, launched its inaugural Caribbean Sports Conference on Thursday.
Head of the Academy, Amanda Reifer, in her welcome remarks at the Walcott Warner Theatre at the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination, said that the conference was “conceptualised to propel sport both throughout Barbados and globally”.
“Over the next two days we will engage, interact, challenge at times, and share thought-provoking ideas on various areas of sport development.
“This conference was conceptualised as important for the Academy of Sport, as we sought to propel our department within the academic community, not only in Barbados at the Cave Hill Campus, but across the globe,” she said. (RA)
