AS PARISHES ACROSS Barbados struggle with water scarcity, questions have been raised about the status of a water project backed by Canada.
Senior Trade Commissioner of the High Commission of Canada, Marc Parisien, publicly brought the matter to the attention of Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler during Tuesday’s business luncheon hosted by the Barbados Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
Warning that the arrangements had been put to assist Government, Parisien said the country could end up losing out if it took too long to act.
“We’ve been discussing for a long time the Belle Reverse Osmosis project with Barbados and this is about a $40 million project. This is basically about 30 per cent of the drinkable water in Barbados on the ground, but the level of pollution is rising rapidly,” he said. (WILLCOMM)
