‘Keep up Cubana cause’

DO NOT STOP THE FIGHT until the perpetrators of the 1976 Cubana bombing in Barbados are brought to justice.

This was the anguished plea echoing loudly across the sea near the Cubana Memorial Monument in Paynes Bay, from speakers at yesterday’s anniversary ceremony in memory of the horrific terrorist act that shattered the peace of Barbados and the rest of the Caribbean 40 years ago.

In her address Minister of Foreign Affairs Senator Maxine McClean called the bombing of the plane a “wicked act”.

She said its memory “motivates our continuing call for justice in relation to this matter” though she noted the tragedy represented a “seminal event” in the relations between the peoples of Cuba and Barbados.  (GC)
