FORMER local karting champion driver Zane Maloney mastered slippery conditions and completed two days of testing in England on Saturday.

The young Barbadian, a student of the St Michael School, was at the wheel of an OKJ kart at Whilton Mill track, under the watchful eyes of officials from “Mod Croc Racing” in preparation for a major testing assignment in Italy starting today.

“What we were doing in the UK was getting him acclimatised to UK and European surroundings driving a faster kart than what he is accustomed, as at the end of the process he would be graded and we would know at what level he reached and plan as we plan for the future,” crew chief and father Sean Maloney told NATIONSPORT from the circuit in the UK.

Adding that this aspect of the trip to the UK and Italy is non-competitive and geared to give his connections the necessary information on the skill of the youngster, Sean said that Zane returned good times and it augurs well for when he reaches Italy where he will be attached to Ricky Flynn Motorsport for the all-important sessions at the renowned South Garda Karting International Circuit.
