LESS THAN A MONTH SHY of his 80th birthday, Gordon Belfield Alleyne has met his untimely death.

The elderly man, known by those in his Church Gap Hill, Hillaby, St Thomas neighbourhood as “Giant”, was not strong enough to overcome whatever it was that caused him to end up 35 feet down a ravine near his home. His family had reported him missing 24 hours earlier.

Police public relations officer, Acting Inspector Roland Cobbler, told the media yesterday that Alleyne’s death was being treated as “unnatural”.

Described by his family as “a true sport and fun-loving”, “Giant” had fallen victim to Alzheimer’s disease, which affected his general health. (MR)
