New twist to hotel furore

INVESTORS BELIEVE THE uproar against the construction of a five-storey hotel at Sea Rocks, Enterprise, Christ Church may be a case of sour grapes.

The WEEKEND NATION has obtained a copy of a letter written to the Trinidadian owners of the half-acre lot, valued at $2.2 million, by chairman and managing director of Sunbuilders Ltd and Kent Construction, Trevor Kent, one of the objectors to the project.

In the letter Kent expressed disappointment that his invitation to them to buy his property was apparently being spurned. He said he contacted the management of Accra Beach Hotel – which is also owned by the same Trinidadian company – and had received no favourable response.

“Having contacted the manager of your Accra Beach Hotel at the time of your company’s purchase of the vacant lot next to my home at Enterprise Beach Road, Christ Church, I believe that you were made aware of my offer to sell you our property also . . . (CA)
