Counting losses

THE LACK of an AstroTurf at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex has done a disservice not only to hockey but to other sports as well.

And the sooner it is laid, the sooner the island will once again play host to those international sporting groups who twinned their arrival with hockey teams participating in the annual International Hockey Festival.

This is the view of business development officer (sports) at the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc., Devon Chase. He was speaking at the annual general meeting of the Tourism Development Corporation (TDC) at the Accra Beach Hotel yesterday.

He told his audience, which included president of the Hockey Association, Mark St Hill, that not having the AstroTurf “has more or less been a disservice to us”.
