MORE GIRLS ARE needed on the hockey turf.
This observation was made by education officer for physical education and former national hockey player Andrea Nichols, at the start of the National Sports Council’s (NSC) Indoor Hockey Tournament on Thursday morning at the Kensington Oval Bond.
She told the SATURDAY SUN that the small number of women playing the sport remained her major concern.
“My real worry is ladies hockey. We don’t have a problem with the boys at all, it’s the girls. The numbers in ladies hockey is diminishing,” she said.
Though the sport has been experiencing this setback, she was pleased to see so many girls from schools across the island turn out to take part in the NSC’s annual competition. (RG)
