A YOUTH SYMPOSIUM has been included on the agenda of the Barbados Labour Party’s (BLP) annual conference, which comes off next weekend at The Lester Vaughan School under the theme Focused And Ready.

Sport will be in the spotlight and panellists will engage the audience on the topic Are We Making Sport of Sports.

At a press conference at the BLP’s Roebuck Street headquarters yesterday, president of the League of Young Socialists, Damien Sands, said import duties on equipment originating from outside of CARICOM, in particular, the absence of sports legislation and the lack of innovation are among the issues to be addressed during the conference’s afternoon session on Saturday.

“As an organisation we recognise that sports is a vehicle in which youths can still achieve social, economic mobility,” he said. (YB)
