THE PILOT PROJECT using private haulers to assist in the collection of garbage was extended by Government for two weeks and will now end this week.
A full review of the controversial decision will be conducted before a report is presented to Cabinet, Minister of the Environment and Drainage Dr Denis Lowe has revealed.
He told the DAILY NATION in an interview that the review would also determine if the private sector companies would continue to be used on a weekly, monthly or as-required basis, and if they would be paid at an hourly rate, or based on the tonnage of garbage collected.
The haulers are being paid $411.50 (value added tax included) per hour during the current pilot programme.
