BREA: Alternative energy plan a must

THE DAYS OF an ad hoc approach to renewable energy in Barbados could soon be over.

The Barbados Renewable Energy Association (BREA), which is on the national task force for energy, said a structured policy would likely be in place by year end.

The body was tasked in October 2015 with arriving at a roadmap and a national sustainable energy policy for the sector.

Association president Aidan Rogers said though significant strides had been made, the process needs to move to the next level if the country is to achieve 65 per cent renewable energy penetration by 2030 as touted by the prime minister.  (WILLCOMM)
