THE Goddard Enterprises Limited Division 1 Volleyball Championships moved to the spacious and well-ventilated indoor Seventh-Day Adventist Gym at Oldbury, St Philip, on Sunday night, but three top teams did not fare too well after the trip.

Knockout champions Barbados Bearings W. Gittens Landscaping Progressive were able to avert an upset by newcomers All Stars when they barely squeaked out the win 25-23, 22-25, 21-25, 25-20, 15-12.

That victory carried Progressive to 17 points with one game in hand, which would have been played last night at the same venue against Chargers. All Stars finished the first round in the cellar on seven points, one behind Foundation United.

Unfortunately, the travel created problems for knockout queens Flow Deacons and former rulers Chargers. (KB)
