CHARGERS made a bold bid towards capturing the Goddard Enterprises Limited Division One Men’s Volleyball League title on Monday night at Oldbury, St Philip.
Superior attacking by young Carlos Cyrus helped Chargers beat knockout champions Barbados Bearings/W. Gittens Landscaping Progressive 25-12, 25-21, 23-25, 25-15.
That win carried Chargers to a 7/1 record and 37 points with two games in hand. Progressive also have two games in hand, but they are seven points behind the leaders.
Captain and setter Alain London unleashed Cyrus, Atiba Best, Ashan Jordan and Shavon Barker, who hammered a lacklustre Progressive to hold 16-8 leads in the first two sets. (KB)
