Benefit matches for Griffith

FORMER NATIONAL football captain and coach Keith “Grell” Griffith is in line for some major help to get him back on his feet.

Griffith, a diabetic, recently lost his right leg and is in the process of purchasing a prosthesis.

As a result, former national footballer Terry Sealy conceptualised an initiative to assist Griffith through the hosting of two benefit football matches at the National Stadium on December 18. 0520keithgriffith

At a press conference to announce the event at the Goalkeeper’s Bar in My Lords Hill yesterday, organiser Frank Gill said it was a cause which needed to be supported.

“Keith has been an outstanding footballer throughout his life representing Barbados and then moving on to be coach of the national team. He also had some stints in the Caribbean as technical director. We want to help him offset that cost,” said Gill. (RG)
