IF YOU WON’T relocate us, then lease the land to us.
This was the message from president of the Barbados Association of Retailers, Vendors and Entrepreneurs (BARVEN), Alister Alexander, who revealed that his organisation recently sent a request to the Ministry of Housing and Lands for the land where the BARVEN market at Cheapside is located, to be leased to his organisation.
Speaking to SUNDAY SUN yesterday ahead of their Bridgetown Market Day and Parade, Alexander said he was making that call because the 70 vendors in the area were supposed to be relocated temporarily but that period had turned into over ten years, and it was time for Government to step up. (TG)
