THE LYRICS TO Edwin Yearwood’s Home Sweet Home rang loud and clear as hundreds of Barbadians arrived at Grantley Adams International Airport over the weekend to partake in celebrations of this island’s 50th year of Independence.

The lyrics go, “sweet Barbados I love this place”, and the returning nationals or Bajans by descent showed nothing but love for the gem of the Caribbean Sea.

Boston resident Regina Niles, who was born to Barbadian parents, can’t seem to keep away.

In fact, she said she was also here for Crop Over and was looking forward to some of the Independence fetes.

“I love it here; I had a blast at Crop Over and I plan to have a good time at We Ting and Tipsy,” she told the DAILY NATION on Saturday afternoon.
