ADDRESS THE VARIOUS the island is facing and press on.

That was the exhortation of Anglican Bishop Dr John Holder, as he delivered the sermon at the multifaith service of thanksgiving to mark the 50th anniversary of Independence at Kensington Oval yesterday.

“There are those among us who seem not to be able to experience their fair share of the fruits of national development,” said Holder, who is also Archbishop of the West Indies.

“We cannot overlook and deplore them. Their welfare must be high, and very high, on the national agenda.”

However, he has urged Barbadians to stop pulling down their country in its 50th year of Independence, saying they should feel justifiably proud of its achievements in the last 50 years. (HLE)
