BARL turns to sport ministry

LOCAL motorsport’s circuit racing club is turning to its last resort.

The Barbados Auto Racing League (BARL) is pleading with the Ministry of Sport to get the club back on track at Bushy Park after failing to find common ground with the sport’s governing body the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) and Bushy Park Circuit Inc (BPCi) over use of the St Philip venue.

Club chairman Stefan Hinds made the impassioned plea in an interview with MIDWEEK SPORT. BARL has not held races at Bushy Park for the last three years.

“I want just resolution on a whole. Full stop. It’s been a dragged-out process and corporations on a whole finalise their budgets around October, November so you’re hardly going to get any approvals in December, which means we’re going to lose any opportunity to get on to sponsors’ budget for next year and it will likely kill our 2017 season as has happened in the past years,” said Hinds.
