AFTER BEING accused of failing to take action that could have saved the life of at least one child recently, the Child Care Board is facing a recommendation that it be stripped of some of its powers.
The suggestion was made Saturday by child rights advocate and attorney Faith Marshall-Harris during a presentation attended by the minister responsible for the Child Care Board, Steve Blackett.
He had earlier touted the many responsibilities of the agency and said the Government was doing all within its power to ensure that children were given the best care.
But as she made a case for sweeping reforms of the legal system pertaining to children, Marshall-Harris argued that the Child Care Board had too many responsibilities with too few officers. (WILLCOMM)
