Historic moment at Oval

HISTORY WAS CREATED at Kensington Oval early yesterday morning and it had nothing to do with cricket.

For the first time, Jamaican dancehall artistes Beenie Man and Bounty Killa performed together on a Barbadian stage in unity, and the right Lauryn Hill showed up and showed off.

Without the technical glitches that started around 10 p.m. and continued until the end of the show at 3:30 a.m., the Hennessy Artistry at the Oval could have been pitch-perfect.

Local band Cover Drive, who performed first, had issues and had to leave to return at 10:23 p.m. That pushed the show back almost an hour as the time also had to accommodate three band changes – for Jamaican act Tarrus Riley, Hill and the band that backed both Beenie and Bounty. (NS)
