HEAVY rains cut short the third day of the Powerade Barbados Olympic Association’s Independence Short Course National Championships, but not before Nkosi Dunwoody and Ashley Weekes made their mark once more in the pool.

Front-runners in the 13-14 age group, Dunwoody and Weekes lived up to expectations, both grabbing wins in the 400 metres individual medley.

Weekes was an emphatic winner, clocking five minutes 27.73 seconds, while teammate Britney McCollin was a distant second in six minutes 29 seconds. Dunwoody captured the boys’ equivalent in four minutes, 46 seconds.

In the 11-12 division, Alpha’s Aza Dunwoody won the 400 metres individual medley, recording five minutes 45.37 seconds to beat out Kayla Renwick, also of Alpha, who clocked 5 minutes 59.21 seconds. (RG)
