Pigs gone

EIGHTEEN PIGS BELONGING to a St Lucy farmer have vanished. 

And pork lovers are being encouraged to find out exactly where their favourite meat originated as it could have been stolen by shameless thieves.

The owner of Pickering Plantation pig farm, said to be out of the island, is wondering how he will deal with losses estimated to be around $10 000.

Philmore Gilkes, a fellow farmer, told the DAILY NATION he was trying to assist his owner friend by either finding the pigs or the persons responsible for their theft.

While not disclosing his friend’s name, Gilkes said the pigs were ready for market and just before the owner left the island two Sundays ago, he had nine slaughtered.
