NEW SCANNING EQUIPMENT worth US$10 million will be installed at the air and sea ports as Government moves to ease the “crush” of passenger traffic and boost security.

Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler made the announcement yesterday as Parliament debated and approved a resolution for Government to access a US$15 million line of credit offered by First Citizens Bank.

This loan facility relates to funding Government will source from the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF).

Sinckler said the funding from First Citizens would only be used if required. The support from CAF would be used to fund the port equipment and also increase the efficiency of the Barbados Revenue Authority. (SC)
