AFTER 25 YEARS “the St Lucia Jazz Festival is finished.”
Those were the exact words of the country’s Prime Minister Allen Chastanet at a press conference earlier this week.
Financial challenges spelt the death knell for the annual music festival.
“We are spending over (EC$)14 million on one event [that lasts] over two weeks,” he said.
“That makes absolutely no sense. It is impossible for the destination to have gotten a return. What made it worse is the fact that since BET dropped out we have not had any replacement in televising. (NS)
