Bumper season for Express parcels

THE BARBADOS POSTAL Service is seeing bumper business this Christmas in its Express Parcel department.

“We are really flooded with parcels and this is something that we have not seen for many years,” Postmaster General Margaret Ashby told the MIDWEEK NATION in a recent interview.

Ashby said though personal letter mail had “fallen off”, Express mail was taking up the slack because of the increasing number of people who were taking advantage of e-commerce and ordering merchandise online.

“The letter mail would have fallen off outside of business mail, but with respect to parcels, as a result of e-commerce lots of persons are going online and ordering their items so we are really flooded with parcels and this is something that we have not seen for many years,” Ashby said Friday, which was another very hectic day in the Christmas season for the General Post Office.
