THREE PEOPLE, including former Prime Minister Owen Arthur were injured in an accident earlier today in St James.
Arthur, 67 of West Terrace, in the same parish, was driving an SUV, while 25-year-old Kemar Pile-Martin of Deacons, St Michael was the driver of route taxi ZR 250.
The two vehicles collided at the junction of Wanstead Road and Wanstead Heights.
Arthur complained of pain to the neck and sought medical attention at Sandy Crest Medical Centre in Holetown. He was treated and discharged.
Pile-Martin reported pain in his left arm, while ZR passenger Deeana Grazette, 17, of Redman Village, St Thomas had pain in the left knee. Both Pile-Martin and Grazette also sought private medical attention.
Nearby residents told the DAILY NATION that Arthur, the Independent Member of Parliament for St Peter, was exiting Wanstead Heights to make a right turn onto Wanstead Terrace.
ZR 250 was travelling south towards the Wanstead traffic lights when the two vehicles collided, causing Arthur’s SUV to spin.
Residents said Arthur remained in the vehicle for a while, but sometime after that, the decision was made to take him to Sandy Crest Medical Centre.
