Rains at this time ‘not unusual’

THREE DAYS BEFORE Christmas Barbadians got another reminder of the impact of flooding when four inches of rain caused headaches for many.

The heavy rainfall affected districts across the island and were due to a trough system that covered Barbados, said the Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS).

The system’s presence caused the BMS to issue a flood warning as well as continue its small craft advisory for above normal sea swells.

And despite this being the third such trough system to affect the island within the last month, the BMS said that heavy rains at this time were not out of the ordinary. (AD)
