Higher prices but ham a ‘must’

HAM PRICES are raising eyebrows for some Barbadians this year. 

But despite the cost, many local shoppers insist they will still be serving up ham on their tables tomorrow, Christmas Day

The SATURDAY SUN visited several supermarkets recently, where picnic hams ranged from $70 to $95.

At Carlton Supermarket, a woman, who did not give her name, lamented that she could not afford large hams. She said she usually bought two hams, but to save money she bought a “little turkey ham and four picnic hams at $80 a piece”. The Black Rock, St Michael supermarket retailed leg ham for $36.45 per kg and picnic ham for $28. 75 per kg. (LT)
