THE PATH HAS been cleared for 15 police officers to be promoted after a judge yesterday tossed out the lawsuit by 14 of their colleagues questioning their omission from the promotions list four years ago.

The 14 protesting officers claimed that during the tenure of former Commissioner of Police Darwin Dottin their names had been omitted from the promotions list.

Yesterday’s decision ended four years of claims and counterclaims in the High Court as Justice Margaret Reifer ruled that there was no evidence supporting the assertion that the Police Service Commission (PSC) had acted unreasonably or arbitrarily in the promotion process.

The judge, sitting in the No.12 Supreme Court, dismissed all the applications made to the court in the landmark civil case in which the officers challenged their non-promotion. She also discharged an injunction that had been in place blocking the elevation of the original 15 law enforcement officers until the outcome of the controversial challenge. (TKS)
