THE PEOPLE’S CATHEDRAL moved away from the annual Singing Tree production this Christmas and did a musical drama called Hope Of Christmas, on Jesus’ goal of bringing hope to the world.
The production on Tuesday night at the church on Bishop’s Court Hill, St Michael, portrayed the birth, life, death, resurrection and second coming of Christ to a sizeable congregation in song, dance and drama.
It opened with an angel appearing before Mary announcing the birth of Christ.
The presentation also featured People’s Cathedral choirs – senior, youth and children’s. Soloists featured were Junior Bushell and Kirkland Trotman.
The children’s choir, led by Elsa Drayton, wowed the gathering with Keep Christ In Christmas and All Because Of A Baby Boy.
Curtis Rouse did a solo entitled Touched By A Baby Boy which was interspersed with short testimonies from some of the choir members.
The Maschola Dancers, who ministered during the various acts, added variety to the production. An outstanding contribution came from them all decked in the traditional African outfits when they danced to African Noel by the youth choir.
Pastor Ferdinand Nicholls has not lost his golden voice and received thunderous applause for his rendition of This Little Child.
The almost two-hour production concluded with the ever-popular Hallelujah Chorus.
It continues today, tomorrow and on January 2 at 7 p.m. (RL)
Jesus, played by Pastor Jamal Medas, returning in his glory with the angels as the choir sings the Hallelujah Chorus.
