A BAJAN INVASION could quite possibly set the tone for tonight’s 13th edition of the International Soca Awards in Trinidad.

That’s because several Barbadian artistes have been nominated across various categories for songs and rhythms released between May 1, 2015 and April 30, 2016.

Among them is Damien Hypasounds Etienne who copped the 2012 New Artist award. This time around he is nominated in two categories: Best Groovy Soca of the Year (male) for Sugar Rush and Best Uptempo Soca of the Year (male) for How She Like It.

Hypasounds was almost at a loss for words when asked for his reaction to being nominated again.

“It is a great feeling, I can’t even explain it but to know that the work that you put in is getting recognised outside of your country,” he said. (SDB MEDIA)
