MARTIN’S BAY, ST JOHN, was the scene of numerous activities when the WEEKEND NATION team visited at Christmastime.
The team first came upon a woman power walking with what looked like water ski poles.
Curious, we stopped the visitor and quizzed her. While declining to be photographed, she said she was practising Nordic walking – a sport in some countries and also something health-conscious people did to stay in shape. She said the poles offered stability and power.
There was also another woman with a branch scouring the beach – stopping every so often to turn something over and pick something up. The team had no idea what she was collecting but she was certainly concentrating on it. (CA)
