LONG-SUFFERING St Joseph residents seem set to get some “compensation”.
After a double blow of water outages while still receiving the utility bill, word is that some householders’ bills may be cancelled, based on a letter to one resident.
However, a legal source said the compensation for those affected by the year-long severe water shortage in the parish may not be as easy as it appears.
Andrew Dixon, one of the residents from the hard-hit Horse Hill district, said he was a test case for those affected by the lack of water from the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) and had received a letter from the Fair Trading Commission (FTC) stating that the BWA had referred his case to its compensation unit.
